Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck Institut für Mikrobiologie UniversitätsassistentIn – Postdoc Bioinformatik Laufbahnstelle Chiffre BIO- 10452 Start/Duration: From June, 2019 for 6 years, with an option for a Tenure Track Unit: Department of Microbiology and Affiliation to the Digital Science Center of the University of Innsbruck Extent: Full, 40 h per week Main tasks - Independent research in bioinformatic analysis of microbiomes and biological interactions in different habitats. - Development of digital tools to analyze various omics data, e.g. (Meta) genomics, (meta) transcriptomics, functional analysis and network analysis, including data management. - Close cooperation and project development with researchers from the Faculty of Biology, the Research Areas and Centers and in particular the newly founded Digital Science Center at the LFU Innsbruck. A connection to the Austrian Bioinformatics Platform is desired. - Acquisition and administration of third-party funds; scientific publishing. - Independent organization and giving of high-quality teaching in the field of bioinformatics. - Supervision and co-supervision of Bachelor's, Master's and (after completion of the qualification agreement) PhD students. - Active participation in commissions and committees as part of academic self-government. Required qualification - PhD in (bio-)informatics, microbiology, biology or a related subject with an interdisciplinary profile. - Several years of PostDoc experience or relevant work experience beyond the dissertation. - Interdisciplinary and independent research experience in bioinformatics and omics technologies (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, microbiome network analysis and biological interactions). - Relevant publications in international, peer-reviewed journals in the area of bioinformatics and lectures at international conferences / workshops etc. - Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds and in the management of research projects as well as international co-operations and experience abroad is desired. - Team and communication skills are expected. - Command of the German language is expected within a reasonable time.
